Running Cape Town with Kath

Kathy is a friend of a friend of mine, who I met whilst living on the Isle of Mann.  Kath was in Cape Town for 2 days, as part of a longer world-wide adventure, including exploring Indonesia, Southern Africa and South America, and contacted Run Cape Town to do some running tours whilst she was in town.

IMG_2770We had two wonderful mornings exploring Cape Town on the run.  Kath chose to do a Historical City running tour first, to orientate herself to the layout of the city.  We ran from her accommodation in Gardens down Kloof and Long Street, up into the Bo-Kaap and then through de Waterkant to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, before exploring Adderley Street and the area around the Cape Town City Hall and Company’s Gardens.  We ran early in the morning to avoid the heat in Cape Town in January, as well as to avoid the busy Cape Town streets!

IMG_2786The next running tour took us out to False Bay, where we ran from Muizenberg up to Boyes Drive, then along to Fish Hoek, before returning via Kalk Bay and St James.  We stopped to greet the seals in the Kalk Bay Harbour en route, and dipped our feet in the ocean for some refreshment after our run, before enjoying freshly squeezed apple juice & pastries on the beach from Knead Bakery … A perfect start to the weekend!  J
