Lions Head Trail Run

IMG_20150517_110238Pristine single track and fantastic sunset sights.

Get off the beaten track and onto pristine mountain trails to enjoy a spectacular run around the base of Lion’s Head.  Lion’s Head was originally called “Leeuwen Kop” by the Dutch, as this 669m peak stretching above the city looks like a proud lion watching over his kingdom.

Forming part of the Table Mountain Nature reserve, Lion’s Head is known for breathtaking views of the entire Table Mountain amphitheatre, Atlantic Seaboard, Table Bay and the city of Cape Town.  It is incredible to find yourself in such a peaceful and quiet environment so close to the city!

Your running guide will share some information about the history of Robben Island, as well as the Kramats which form an important part of the Cape’s Islamic history.  Run along the spine of Lion’s Head to Signal Hill to discover the oldest living tradition in Cape Town: the firing of the Noon Gun at Lion Battery.
