February: Celebrating Run Cape Town’s birthday & the month for #loverunning!

Table Mountain toursRun Cape Town turned 2 years old on 2 February, and in celebration we’ve had another busy month with loads of visitors exploring Cape Town with us, on the run!  February in Cape Town is rather awesome, with long & hot sunny days, ideal for getting outside & RUNNING this city and its trails!

Continuing the theme of “marathon training in the Mother City” started by Carmen last month, we had two runners, running in Cape Townin training for the London Marathon on 26 April, join us for running tours.  Pete & Sarah both joined us for multiple runs, including tours of the historical city centre, False Bay Coast & an epic 17km trail run on Table Mountain & Lion’s Head, on Valentine’s Day!  As Sarah commented after this trail run, this is a toughie but a goodie!  We were also lucky to have my sister, Georgie, visiting from Johannesburg, join us on a city running tour with Pete, a special treat for me 😉

Next, Claudia & Julian from Switzerland joined Sean for a city running tour, just before some unseasonal rain hit the city streets!

trail running in Cape TownMatt is a firefighter visiting from Australia & wanted to explore the mountain trails on Lion’s Head/Signal Hill. We were lucky enough to bump into some firefighters who were fighting the blaze on Signal Hill, & so we stopped for a chat with them to find out more about the SA firefighting service, which made Matt’s day!  We also managed to slow this super-fast runner (vis. 3km in 10 minutes!!) down a bit to take in the beautiful new flowers sprouting on Running in Cape TownSignal Hill.

Kerstin & Kathrin are on holiday in Cape Town for three weeks, and they also joined us for a historical city run, to learn more about the city they are visiting & falling in love with, and we enjoyed some time out, chilling in the beautiful, shady Company’s Gardens …

The weather is already starting to cool down a bit … but we are excited for more March running adventures in our beautiful Mother City!
