Autumn is Awesome in Cape Town!

Running tours in Cape TownAs the seasons change, the temperature drops a little, the leaves turn golden and the days get shorter … Bad news it may seem … Summer is over … 🙁 but this is actually good news for running in Cape Town!

The cooler temperatures mean you can enjoy a comfortable running tour of Cape Town, on the trail or tar, at any time of the day and not die of heat!  Shorter days mean you don’t need to be up at 4am to enjoy the sunrise (!!) and the beautiful colours of the autumn leaves dotted over the mountain and in the forests allow for awesome vieRunning in Cape Townws & photo opportunities…  The winter rain also hasn’t set in yet, so there is only the occasional little drizzle to keep things fresh and clear the air 🙂

We have continued to enjoy some great running tours in Cape Town this month, with especially great runs out in False Bay, along the beach & up into the mountains above Clovelly, as well as along the famous Chapman’s Peak drive connecting Hout Bay & Noordhoek.  The earth is still charred & desolate in this part of Cape Town, from the recent devastating fires in the Southern Peninsula, however there is a certain beauty about this starkness, and green shoots & pretty little pink flowers promise new growth & re-birth.

trail running in Cape TownThis month Run Cape Town was also lucky enough to host the winners of the Galileo Open Air Cinema competition on a trail running tour of Lion’s Head.  What a treat to run with energetic, enthusiastic fellow South Africans!  Thanks to the Galileo for this opportunity & to Margaret, Stefan & Frances for a wonderful morning of laughs, with some trail running on the side!Running in cape Town

Tomorrow we will be up at 5:30am to enjoy an early morning trot on Table Mountain and Lion’s Head with a visitor from Switzerland, and we look forward to another awesome sunrise & a special day sharing our beautiful city with visitors, on the run…
