Taking delegates from the Gen Re conference on a running tour of Cape Town

With an increase in the numbers of runners out there, we have found that guided running tours have quickly become a very popular corporate event; both as a team building exercise and as a healthy, cultural activity that can be incorporated into the activities of a conference, incentive programme or team building event.  The beauty of a running tour is that participants get to sightsee and exercise at the same time, and this can take place in the early morning or late afternoon, around the scheduled business activities and meetings of the day.

On our running tours, participants experience Cape Town and its main attractions in a healthy, active and interactive way. A local Cape Town running guide guides the runners through our city, while providing insights and anecdotes about our history and culture. We have a great variety of tours ensuring that participants have the option of seeing different sides of Cape Town, from urban trails through the historical city centre to trail runs on our beautiful Table Mountain or Lion’s Head.

Run Cape Town has been involved in two corporate events this year.  Both events involved providing running tours for business travellers to Cape Town – the first event hosted delegates from a Conference for Gen Re insurance, and the second a group of delegates from the Dell Europe, Middle East and Africa “Circle of Excellence Programme”.

For both events delegates were met at their hotels and taken on early morning running tours of the city/trails on the mountain, so no transport was required for these activities.  Groups were kept small, from a minimum of four runners to a maximum of eight, to ensure a personal, tailor-made service.  The Run Cape Town crew thoroughly enjoyed these events and we believe the participants did too!
